So I printed this page from Safari and I don't get the blank pages
you get. I then printed from Firefox and it moves the verbatim block
to the next page but I don't get 12 blank pages. I wonder if it's an
issue with your browser's print function?

Given that the wiki page is html, there's probably no way to enforce
this aside from the author/editor doing it by hand.

The use of the <verbatim> tag happens because we aren't taking the
time to learn the wiki syntax for marking up a page. It's just too
easy to format it in the text editor and then paste it. My main issue
with the wiki is that usually no one person takes responsibility for
the page. The expectation is someone else will deal with the
formatting/content of other folks contributions.
