Hi All,
Im looking for a replacement minipci card for my thinkpad x40 (2100 card),
and I'm noticing that for the bsd's at least, drivers don't support wpa. If
you are using the ipw/iwi drivers, what is usually done if you want to
associate with an ap that uses wpa and not wep?
Any minipci wireless card recommendations for use with linux and/or *bsd?
Intel PRO/Wireless 2915ABG is the easy choice, though I'm curious about what
others are using. I expect to dual boot with xp too, and any
recommendations will be interesting to me regardless of os.
This turned out to be a thorough book on the subject of wireless networks:
http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/802dot112 and I'd like to find out what local
folks are actually doing in their projects.
Also, please share your experiences and recommendations regarding wireless
network monitoring, site surveying, etc. I have a challenging project
installing a wireless network (mostly for guest internet access) at a hotel
campus comprised of several buildings with lots of masonry and old
construction and not much chance for a wired back-haul. I want to
understand (to the best of my ability :) the behavior of the radios and
signals around the hotel campus.
Thanks very much,
Peter Gorsuch
