Good morning, fellow CHUUGers!

It's my pleasure to announce the next two (count 'em - 2) CHUUG meetings.

This month, on the 26th of September, Anthony Johnston will present
"First Steps in Network Security Monitoring". Ant has worked in and
around Charlottesville as a system administrator, developer and chef for
the past ten years.

Abstract:
For the past year I have been in the process of putting into place
a network monitoring infrastructure for my office LAN. This talk
will be about the ups and downs of getting the information needed
to manage a network day to day while monitoring for threats, from
a system administrators perspective. I will talk about many open
source tools including nmap, snort, trafshow, sancp, and others,
with a focus on setting up snort sensors as the basis for an
NSM infrastructure.

...and next month, on the 24th of October, Josh Malone will be giving a
tutorial on Audio Editing and Mastering with Audacity. Audacity is a
cross-platform audio editing program; although the talk will focus on
Linux, it's applicable to Windows and MacOS as well. We will cover
basic editing, plug-ins, mastering, gain control, multitracking, etc.
Bring your laptops!

Sooo - hope to see all you folks on these dates. As usual, I'll send
reminders a bit before the meetings.

-Josh
