FWIW, some cell phones show up as CDC ACM modems, too.  I use my Sprint
VGA 1000 (a.k.a. Samsung A620) with the Linux cdc-acm driver.

So maybe someone in C'ville has a cell phone with a USB cable?  I'm not in
C'ville, or I'd lend you mine.
