[iaufwg] Call for vote on the HEALPix WCS convention

Dear IAU FITS Working Group Members,

The 4 regional FITS committees recently approved the HEALPix World
Coordinate System convention, therefore it is now time for the IAU FITS
Working Group to formally consider this convention.  I would like to call on
each of you to cast your vote on the following resolution:

----------------------------------------------------------------------
FITS WCS Paper II ("Representations of celestial coordinates in FITS"
Calabretta, M. R., and Greisen, E. W., Astronomy & Astrophysics, 395,
1077-1122, 2002) was written with the intention that new spherical
projection types might be added in the future.   The conventions for one
such spherical projection, namely,the HEALPix projection, are given in
Section 6 of the paper "Mapping on the HEALPix grid" by Mark Calabretta and
Boud Roukema (available at http://www.atnf.csiro.au/~mcalabre).  The IAU
FITS Working Group hereby approves this HEALPix convention as an addition
to the FITS World Coordinate System (WCS) standard.

(either Yes, No, or Abstain) to me.  Do not reply to the entire iaufwg list.

The voting deadline is 3 weeks from tomorrow: 27 April 2006.
