Dear IAU FITS Working Group Members,
I've now put together a web page for the "Registry of FITS Conventions" at
http://fits.gsfc.nasa.gov/fits_registry.html. It contains a link to the
"rules and procedures" page which we have previously discussed. I've also
entered the first convention in the "Under Review" section. This is a short
and simple convention of 4 keywords for describing the min and max values in
table columns.
The layout of this web page can probably be improved, and will certainly
evolve over time as more conventions get added, but I think the current page
is sufficient to get started with. Does anyone have any more suggestions
(or objections) before we make this public? If no one objects, I propose to
post a message on FITSBITS in about 2 weeks time, to announce the
existence of the Registry and urge people to write up and submit conventions
to it. I'll also announce the start of the 4-week public comment period on
this first convention (on the column min and max keywords).
regards,
Bill
