[iaufwg] FITS conventions update

Dear IAU FITS Working Group Members,

Here's an update on a couple matters:

1.  I've reorganized the FITS Support Office web site to consolidate the 
information on the various types of conventions.  From the Home page at
http://fits.gsfc.nasa.gov/ click on "FITS conventions".  This now leads to a 
page with 4 more links:

     * Registry of FITS Conventions submitted to the IAU FITS Working Group
     * Extension names registered with the IAU FITS Working Group
     * Unregistered conventions developed by various projects
     * Keyword data dictionaries defining existing keyword usage

If you then click on "Extension names" you will see the new page that 
describes all the registered extension names.  Please send me any comments 
or suggestions for improvements on any of these pages.

2.  The public comment period on the FOREIGN extension type has ended.  I'm 
expecting that the authors will submit a revised description document soon, 
and then the IAU FWG will have the opportunity for a final review before it 
is entered into the Registry.

3.  The next convention up for public comment will be the tiled image 
compression convention.  Other conventions that I'd like to get to soon are 
the CHECKSUM convention, and the HIERARCH and CONTINUE keyword conventions. 
  If there are other conventions that you think should be given high 
priority for entry into the Registry, please let me know.
