Dear IAUFWG members,

After a long New Year's break, it is time to get back to some FITS
related business:

1) None of you raised any major objections to adding the FITS Foreign
Encapsulation convention to the FITS Convention Registry (see the copy
of the announcement, below). Lucio Chiappette, Bob Hanisch, and Mark
Calabretta suggested a few editorial changes which I did make to
documents. I plan to add this convention to the Registry web site at
the end of next week if there are no further objections or comments
before then.

2) There are several more FITS conventions that are ready to be
submitted for the review process to get them entered into the Registry.
Up to this point I have been pretty much managing this process on my
own, but I think it would be more democratic to set up a small committee
to oversee this registration process (i.e., to decide which conventions
are ready to be submitted, and decide in which order they should be
submitted for public comment). If you are willing to serve in this
role, please let me know (it should not require much of your time). I
think it would be sufficient to have 3 or 4 people on this committee to
provide some oversight and guidance.

regards,
Bill
