[iaufwg] Registered FITS conventions

Dear IAU FITS Working Group,

The public comment period on these 3 conventions:

   - OIFITS
   - CHECKSUM keyword
   - MBFITS

has closed, with no substantive comments received about the conventions 
themselves.  (The MBFITS convention did generate some discussion about 
what is the purpose of the Registry, and whether this particular 
convention is too big and complicated to be included, but I think we 
agreed in the end that it is useful to include this in the registry). 
Consequently, I have moved these 3 conventions from the "under review" 
section, into the "registered" section on the Registry web page.

I am not too concerned about the lack of public comments about these 
conventions.  The OIFITS and MBFITS conventions are big and complicated, 
so few people in the general FITS community will have taken the time to 
study them carefully.  I think, however, that both these conventions 
have undergone scrutiny within their specialized fields, so I have no 
problem approving them into the Registry.

The lack of comments on the CHECKSUM convention reflects, I think, the 
fact that it is quite mature and non-controversial at this point, having 
already gone through wide public discussion when it was first developed 
many years ago.
