Everything you never wanted to know about IEEE 1541-2002 (aka IEC 60027,
aka IEC 27) is at

  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Binary_prefix

with separate pages for each prefix - KiB (note, capital K), Kib,
MiB, Mib, ...

In summary:
  1 KiB = 2^10 bytes = 1 kibibyte
  1 Kib = 2^10 bits = 1 kibibit
  1 MiB = 2^20 bytes = 1 mebibyte
  1 Mib = 2^20 bits = 1 mebibit
  1 GiB = 2^30 bytes = 1 gibibyte
  1 Gib = 2^30 bits = 1 gibibit

and so on for tebi, pebi, exbi, zebi, and (my favourite) yobi.
